It was founded in 1987 as a start-up business in the Cottage scale Industry and today has become one of the leading producers of high quality infant footwear and apparel in the island. Sindhu Garments is a women – led enterprise that currently employs up to 150 workers on part-time and full-time basis. Sindhu Garments sells its products to more than 800 retail outlets island-wide, including renowned Supermarket franchises and Major Departmental Stores.

As the first manufacturer and marketer of 100 % cotton lined baby shoes in Sri Lanka, it also owns design rights that are covered under intellectual property act of Sri Lanka, for all of its productions and operates with the aim of providing protection and comfort to the baby’s feet, and high quality products that are extremely affordable to the greater public, locally and globally.

History
Founded by Suba, a resilient and relentless SUPERMOM with two kids, Sindhu Garments sprouted from a place of lack. In the mid 70’s and 80’s, Suba found herself hunting for comfortable, safe, hygienic footwear and apparel options that also looked stylish, and her search ended in no findings. All that she came across were the ‘’commonly available’’, low quality, unfashionable options that shrunk after a few washes.
As someone who dresses well, follows current trends, and has a sense of elegance and good taste in clothing and appearance, Suba decided to launch her own line of high quality, baby – safe products, after realizing that this was a pain point experienced by many other mums like herself.
There was surely a gap in the market, and through thorough research, Sindhu Garments was born to solve a real problem.
It has been a major hit ever since its launch and today, the Sindhu Garments product range is adorned by thousands of babies island-wide and recommended by doctors and mothers, the world – over.
